Realize I am behind the times on this story, but I have to say something about a mother using a gun, and her rights to stop a home invader. Georgia Mom Hiding With Kids, Shoots Intruder – ABC News.
The man allegedly broke into the house and rummaged around before making his way to the crawl space, where he found the mother and children hiding.
“The perpetrator opens that door, and of course at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” said Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman to WSB-TV.
Melinda Herman shot the intruder five times, hitting him in the face and neck. Chapman said she told the man if he moved she would shoot him again, although she had run out of bullets.
So how do the gun-haters want to change this story? Disarm her, and maybe she and her kids end up dead. Without some means to overcome differences in physical size, the small will be preyed upon by the large. The old or infirm will be at the mercy of they young and the violent. Is that the world we want?

Then they say it’s people like this woman who end up shooting up schools.
AFAICT, she did everything right, but I feel sorry for Ms. Hartman. Most people don’t feel well after going through something like that.
