They are full of shit.
Kill a hundred thousand people via “conventional warfare,” and no one gives a damn, but kill 1000 with chemical weapons and that is a problem. I wish someone would explain to me the difference between being dead via a mortar shell and being dead via a chemical-agent mortar shell.
If a Republican administration was ready to “go it alone” without the UN, without NATO, without any ally, the media would be having kittens. But let a Democratic President risk igniting a regional war because he made some comment a year ago, and it is all part of the “duty to protect” doctrine. What about the “duty to protect” the 100,000 people who died from “conventional warfare.”
OK, so not quite alone. But France?
The President wants to “send a message.” He should use email, because the message he is about to send is that it’s OK to kill civilians with tanks and warplanes and “conventional weapons.” Stick to that, and we will leave you alone. But use chemical weapons and you risk the Wrath of Obama™.
It sure is a good thing he won the Nobel Peace Prize before he got sworn in as President; I don’t think he could get it now.
Since they are actually going to follow the Constitution (something we haven’t seen since before Truman was in office) you should all write (or call) your Senators and Representatives. Wherever you stand on this issue. Make your voice heard. It may not help. (The elites listen to the “little people?” Hardly.) But it can’t hurt. Maybe some of them will be convinced.
