Home invader meets armed homeowner. The results are fairly predictable. Suspect shot during home invasion on Lake Drive – Lake City, FL.
On Sunday, October 21, at about 9:20 p.m., a black male broke into a residence on N.E. Lake Drive. The homeowner, who was watching TV, heard the man break a window and enter her bedroom.
The man cut himself on the glass window when crawling in and the homeowner armed herself with a handgun and started to exit through the back door.
She didn’t want a confrontation. She saw a chance to flee and call for help, but he followed her.
As she began running toward the road, she stopped saw the intruder still chasing her and she fired one shot at him, striking him once in the chest.
He then turned and fled, but collapsed a few doors away. He is in the hospital in critical condition. Charges haven’t been filed. Yet.
He is a convicted felon, a registered sex-offender and when he committed this crime – he is being investigated for another break-in – he was on probation.
Self-defense is a human-right.
