Arguing With the Man Holding the Gun Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

Burglars apparently haven’t learned that armed homeowners exist. And if you attack them, they are likely to shoot you. Sumner County homeowner shoots burglar after confrontation in garage | Wichita Eagle.

Sumner County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Yoder said the shooting occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday when the homeowner was awakened by a noise, noticed his garage door was open and went to investigate. He spotted the burglar in the attached garage, pointed a gun at him and told his wife to call 911.

During the subsequent standoff, a release from the sheriff’s office said, the homeowner was attacked by the intruder. The homeowner fired a single shot and hit the burglar in the upper left side of his chest.

That will ruin your day.

The miscreant was flown to a trauma center, and is expected to survive.

Capt. Yoder says, “You’ve got the right to protect your life and family.” (Here’s hoping the DA agrees!) Call 911 if can, but don’t bet on that to save your life. Especially in a rural setting where 911-response-time may be measured in the rest of your life.
