So What Should a 13-year-old Do When Confronted with Home Invaders?

He was home alone in the middle of the afternoon, when a car pulled up and a man tried to break into the home.

The teen told deputies he retrieved his mom’s pistol and began firing at the man. The teen then fired several more shots at the vehicle as it drove away, according to the affidavit.

A car with bullet holes arrived at a local hospital with an injured passenger. The passenger later died. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

Neighbors were shocked to discover that they live in the Real World™ where bad things can happen.

Neighbor Lyndon Johnson was at work when the shooting happened. He said he doesn’t understand why something like this would happen on his street.

“I was shocked period that there was a shooting in the neighborhood,” Johnson said. “Let alone a 13 year old kid. It’s crazy. It doesn’t make much sense.”

Because crime happens in “other kinds of places.” Not in that corner of paradise. NOT.
