The Nobel Peace Prize is Supposed to Be Handed Out for Decreasing Standing Armies

Good thing Obama won it before he actually did anything, because I don’t the count is going down. Poland to increase the size of army by 50 per cent to ‘guarantee the integrity’ – Telegraph

Poland doesn’t have a big army to begin with, not by US or USSR standards anyway, but after the way the West abandoned Ukraine to the tender mercies of Putin’s Russia, the Poles have decided to get proactive.

Under the plan the Polish army would grow from its current strength of 100,000 to 150,000 as the country continues to expand the capabilities of its armed forces. Poland has pledged to hit the unofficial Nato defence spending target of two per cent of GDP and has launched an intensive modernisation programme.

Now granted, Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and Poland is, so in theory, if Russia did anything to Poland, everyone has to jump on board. But apparently the Poles are not betting on the Obama administration.

  1. The Obama administration and the West in general love to talk. They believe that talking is the thing. But they forget the ideas of history, never having studied history.
