Lord of the Rings, Extended Edition – That’s a lot of video

So I went over to some friends house yesterday, expecting to watch the Fellowship of the Ring. Instead we watched the entire The Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions Blu-ray.

We snacked a lot, and did stop for breaks, but pretty much watched straight thru. That is about 12 hours of video in a 13 hour elapsed window.

Don’t want to do that again real soon, but it is one of my favorite stories.

If you have only seen the theatrical version of the LotR films, I recommend the extended editions. They are four hours each instead of 3 hours each. They are closer the original, and the extra scenes include a lot of the original dialog from the books – even when the dialog is given to different characters.
