This is the state of Starbucks in 2019: “Latte and a speedball, please”.
Starbucks is installing boxes for safe disposal of syringes in the bathrooms of certain locations, following workers’ reports of discarded needles and sometimes concerning conditions.
Because actually trying to keep the IV drug users out of your business would be unfair. Or something.
That is the kind of place I want to hang out and read a good book with a nice cup of coffee. Not.
The Starbucks near me (OK, “nearest to me” – it isn’t that close) has morphed into McDonald’s. Almost. It is about as annoying. But then there are better non-Starbucks alternatives. And they aren’t any farther from me.
Back when you couldn’t find Starbucks east of the Mississippi River, or even when they opened that location in the Atlanta airport, they had good coffee. But now, not so much. But that is true of a lot of coffee. (When was the last time you saw Jamaican Blue Mountain anywhere?)
