NYPD Is Confused About the Facts

This keeps popping up in my news feeds, and I have to say it makes the NY Police look less than stellar. NYPD backtracks, says officer wasn’t killed in 1999 shooting. OK, the shooting happened a long-time-ago. But it was not in a galaxy far away.

The New York Police Department says confusion surrounding a long-awaited arrest led officials to wrongly declare that an off-duty officer had been killed in a 1999 shooting in the Bronx.

A police spokeswoman said Monday that Officer Vincent Ling survived and has since retired.

“The facts, ma’am. Just the facts.” OK they aren’t behaving badly, just stupidly.
