Teenager or Legal Adult?

Those Eeeevil gun-owners. Defending themselves from teenagers. Police: Georgia homeowner kills teenager who broke into home.

Does that headline conjure up an image of a legal-adult committing a felony?

At a news conference, authorities identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jayven Jackson, of Paulding County, Georgia. They say they had had past dealings with him when he was a juvenile but didn’t release further details.

“When he was a juvenile.” Past tense. Did any of these reporters take 5th grade English? Or would that be 4th grade?

But then, “Law-abiding homeowner defends himself and his family from an adult felon” just doesn’t put the gun-owner in a negative light. And reporters are nothing, if they’re not determined to libel (or is it slander?) gun-owners.

This is actually old news.
