John Coltrane recorded an album for Impulse! Records in 1963 during his “classic quartet” phase. It is the era of his music I listen to the most. His Free Jazz era requires a bit of concentration, and as much as I like his music, I am usually doing at least one other thing while it is playing.
For whatever reason the album was never released, and then the studio destroyed the master tape, leading people to believe it was lost forever. But a copy was discovered and the album was released in 2018.
This is “Untitled Original 11386 (Take 1)” by John Coltrane from the album Both Directions At Once: The Lost Album. It is 8 and a half minutes long, so grab a coffee.
