Escape From LA

I wrote about the people abandoning NYC; it wouldn’t be fair it ignore the flight from LA. Hollywood’s Apocalypse NOW: Rich and famous are fleeing in droves as liberal politics and coronavirus turn City of Dreams into cesspit plagued by junkies and violent criminals.

[Danny O'Brien owner of Watford Moving & Storage], 58, who moved to LA from London 34 years ago, is also planning to move to Tennessee.

'Liberal politics has destroyed this city,' he says. 'The homeless encampments are legal and there's nothing the police can do. White, affluent middle-class folk are getting out. People don't feel safe any more.'

The rich are getting, or have gotten, out. The middle class is also fleeing. I hope that they remember what policies and politicians did to LA, so they don’t vote for the same crap wherever they go. I’m not hopeful.

[Veteran publicist Ed Lozzi says:] When I first arrived in LA 40 years ago, the town smelled of orange blossoms. Now the streets stink of urine. There is a beautiful park in Westwood but you can’t go there because there are people slumped on the ground and you step on a carpet of needles.

Why would anyone stay under those conditions? (Hat tip to Animal Magnetism.)

  2. Hey, remember when the Republicans were competitive if not dominant in CA? California was ruined by mass immigration, crookedly and treasonously supported by the Republican Party. And it isn’t just the libs who move elsewhere and ruin the new locality, these third-world immigrants will also follow because they can’t build or maintain a first-world lifestyle on their own. When the get to where they’re going they’ll vote their hatred and envy, and they’ll vote for gibs, just like they’re doing in Califas. Democratic misrule is more a symptom than a cause.

    • Hey Remember when Republicans controlled Chicago? It was only 89 years ago!

      How about Detroit?

Hey Remember when Republicans controlled New York City? I won’t count Bloomberg, but when Giuliani was mayor it was one of the safest big cities in the world, after being a mess in the 1970s. Sure it had problems, but instead of fixing the problems, the Dems turned the clock back to at least 1987, and the crime level is approaching what it was way back then. Oh, and what year was it that New York City was bankrupt? That was 1975.
