Will it mirror the war on guns? Probably. The War on Driving to Come, by Charles C. W. Cooke, National Review
Will you be allowed to move yourself around? On your own schedule? Or will you only be allowed to travel as the .gov permits. Which will probably be only in car-pools.
Go read the whole thing.
A lot of people are familiar with Percy Shelley’s “Ozymandias,” but I think I really prefer the poem of the same name by Shelley’s friend, Horace Smith. Ozymandias Poem by Horace Smith – Poem Hunter
In Egypt’s sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desart knows:-
‘I am great OZYMANDIAS,’ saith the stone,
‘The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
‘The wonders of my hand.’- The City’s gone,-
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.
We wonder,-and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro’ the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.
Nothing lasts forever. Eventually societies crumble under their own weight. I wonder if that is what we are seeing this year. The collapse of a great system under the weight of corruption, and incompetence. I don’t even like the 3rd party candidates.
The “intelligence services” are out of control. The director of the CIA maintained that the agency “did nothing wrong” until an Inspector General report said otherwise. Now he is apologetic. CIA Director Reverses Himself on Senate Spying | RealClear.
For months, CIA Director John Brennan stood firm in his insistence that the CIA had little to be ashamed of after searching the computers of the Senate Intelligence Committee. His defiant posture quickly collapsed after a devastating report by his own inspector general sided against the CIA on each key point of the dispute with the Senate.
Spying on Americans. Spying on the Senate. Lying about both. And mostly Republicans are keeping silent. (They love National Defense.) How about some Constitution defense?
