What would you do if you came home and discovered a burglary in progress? Police: Burglary suspect sent to hospital with gunshot wound after altercation with homeowner.

There was an altercation and the homeowner shot the burglary suspect, according to Sgt. Johnny Williams.

The guy-who-got-shot was taken to a local hospital. When he gets out the hospital, he will be taken to the local lockup.

A Good Guy With a Gun

Thank God he was there. Dad at McDonald’s with kids shoots and kills masked gunman who opened fire.

Birmingham Police responded to the McDonald’s at around 10:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports that multiple people had been shot. When an employee opened the door to let a father and his two sons out of the restaurant, a masked man entered. The man then began shooting. Investigators say it is not clear whether he intended to rob the McDonald’s or was targeting someone inside.

The father then opened fire on the gunman, fatally wounding him. The unidentified dad and one of his kids, a minor, were also struck, but do not have life-threatening injuries.

The dad is not facing charges, though the investigation continues.

Another Failure of the Victim-selection Process

If you break into homes, you will eventually find an armed homeowner. Birmingham homeowner shoots home invasion suspect.

The shooting happened at about 2 a.m. at a home on 3rd Avenue North in the Eastlake area. Police said a man was breaking into a house when the homeowner shot him in the stomach.

The guy who got shot was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The homeowner was NOT arrested. The investigation continues.
