They Don’t Like This Judge. They Went Back 40 Years to Find Dirt

Because “How dare he try to hold protestors on the Left to account for their actions?” And because there is nothing like personal attacks when you don’t have any facts on your side. The Straight Pride Judge Shot Someone at City Hall Back in the Day.

40 years ago, he shot someone in self-defense, when he was an investigator for the DA. It obviously didn’t stop him from becoming a judge, but since they don’t like him, they have to smear him in some way.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are pretty bizarre. Five men, including Hulme, were allegedly “kicking the tires” of an F15 fighter jet that was on display in the Plaza. When Sinnott walked past, an altercation began. According to a statement made later by the assistant DA, the men attacked Sinnott unprovoked, and he drew a revolver and shot Hulme in self-defense.

Oh, and those protestors, who were so “peaceful” that charges were going to be dropped by the DA? Most (all?) are charged with assault and battery on a police officer.

So, 40 years ago, someone that the Left and the media (but I repeat myself) don’t like did something that apparently was completely legal at the time, and would be probably be completely legal today. Exactly what conclusions are we supposed to draw from this, aside from the fact that media hate this guy?

Reality Intrudes All the Way to Massachusetts

Reality, it’s what is true, even if you don’t want to believe it. Brighton Rabbi Asks Congregation To Bring Guns To Synagogue.

Amid a rise in hate crimes against Jewish people across the United States, Shaloh House — the Brighton synagogue the rabbi [Dan Rodkin] leads — has been improving safety measures with security cameras, reinforced glass windows, even panic buttons.

Despite these efforts, Rodkin worries a gunman might still get inside the synagogue and shoot his members.

And so, since you are the last line of your own defense, he wants his congregation to be armed, and he is planning to get training organized for new gun owners. Click the image for a larger view of the Graham Combat Killhouse Rules.

And this is NPR in Boston, so there is the usual hand-wringing over guns, but they actually include a pretty interesting quote from Rabbi Rodkin.

“In Judaism, life is the most sacred thing. Political correctness is important, too, but not as important as a life,” he says.

Of course the media will use that line as an excuse to outlaw guns. And then cars (when they are used as weapons), and knives, and iron pipe, and 2X4s, baseball bats, rocks, sticks, … (Hat tip for this goes to Slow Facts.)

Yet Another Municipality Congratulates Itself on Being Ready for 1992

These newfangled cellular telephones will no longer confuse the people of 911 Call Center in Melford, Mass. Medford Can Now Get Wireless 911 Calls.

Imagine that! A telephone with no wires!

The change from cellular 911 calls being routed through a third party is expected to improve emergency services’ response time.

Well hallelujah, they can handle cellphones, which have been everywhere for 25 years. At least.

What is this world coming to? ‘I Just Want To Be Prepared’: Group Teaches LGBT People Gun Self-Defense. (I hope this isn’t a sign of End-times.)

As is usual, to humanize the story, they follow one individual.

Different, because now he’s shooting with the Boston Pink Pistols — a group brought together by their LGBT identity and interest in using firearms for self-defense, if need be. Many come to learn to protect themselves, while others just come to shoot.

So they point out the fact that anyone can shoot – though you have wonder what hoops you need to jump thru in Massachusetts.

And the realization that when seconds count, police are minutes away.

With state data showing nearly a 10 percent rise in hate crimes in Massachusetts in 2017 over the previous year, Grossman says Pink Pistols participants worry they could be victims of a violent hate crime.

“And when that happens, it’s too late to seek help, it’s too late to avoid it,” he says. “Because the situation is already there.”

And the stigma of guns in the gay community.

Most folks in the Boston Pink Pistols don’t want to be in this story because they don’t want to out themselves as gun owners or advocates. They say there’s more of a stigma in Massachusetts being a gun owner than being gay.

Ah, the tolerant Left strikes again. Pink Pistols website at this link.

Even in Massachusetts, Self-defense Is Legal

JusticeI know I’m shocked. DA Quinn: Cab driver acted in self-defense in fatal shooting.

Bristol County DA Thomas M. Quinn III said his office has determined that a cab driver acted in self-defense when he shot and killed one of two men trying to rob him during a botched Aug. 10 holdup in New Bedford.

“After a thorough investigation, it is clear that the cab driver acted in lawful self-defense and the use of deadly force was justified under the circumstances,” Quinn said.

And less than 3 months to make that determination. Not exactly a lightning fast decision, but I have the feeling that Mr DA Thomas Quinn III was hoping for some grounds to charge the cab driver. I could be wrong, but by and large, district attorneys hate self-defense. And blue-states hate self-defense, because you should depend on the State for all of that kind of thing. Even though they have no duty to protect you. And have proven time and again that they can’t get there before bad things happen.

Self-defense is a human-right.

Authorities said the cab driver picked up the victim and a second man at an address on Cottage Street and was driving when he was allegedly placed in a choke hold.

Quinn describes the alleged attack as an attempt to “violently rob the cab driver,” noting that the men brandished a knife after placing the driver in a chokehold.

It being Boston, they are confused about the difference between “victims” and “criminals,” but I’ll let it pass this time.

Self-defense is a human-right, and it might actually be your legal-right in Boston.

But it is no surprise that the media in MA has trouble distinguishing victims and criminals. Man shot by clerk after attempted armed robbery in Worcester | Boston 25 News

The “victim” was shot 3 times. Except, he was no victim.

Police were told the man was shot after attempting to rob the No Name grocery store, and officers observed a large knife on the store counter.

Police confiscated the weapons (normal) and the clerk’s permit to carry. That last is definitely NOT normal. Why would they do that? Is there 0% chance that the guy who got shot has friends who might take a dim view ot these proceedings? But it is the land of the Big State, where they hate the idea that you might be able to take some individual action.

The clerk and 2 customers in the store were not injured.

Though they have to point out that he is a retired cop. Homeowner who shot trespasser in Worcester is a retired police officer who displayed ‘beware of owner’ sign | masslive.com

He sees a guy at around 12:45 AM looking for open car doors. When the guy comes into his yard, he gets his gun and confronts him.

“Neighbors witnessing the altercation heard the male threaten to shoot the homeowner and began to reach towards his back waistband,” police said Sunday. “At this time the homeowner fired several rounds at the male. The male was hit and ran from the scene.”

The guy who got shot called police a while later to report that he had been shot.

Both the homeowner and the trespassing-man were taken to the hospital for injuries.

Barnstable, MA Police Department Joins the 1990s

Well, that’s a BIT harsh. (But only a bit.) Barnstable Police Department upgrades its 911 response system

The major upgrade? They will now be able to handle 1991 technology. (Otherwise known as the digital cellular phone – Gen 2.)

“The 911 system has been operational here since the early ’90s” and was wired to field only hard-line calls.

Gen 2 cellular technology was introduced in 1991, but it was a few years before phones started to pop up everywhere. But even if you give them 10 years, it is still a long damn time to not be able to field cellphone calls. (Calls were routed to the State Police and then transferred. It added about 3 minutes to response time.)

JusticeI think this kind of amazing. Prosecutor: Springfield homeowner ‘absolutely within his rights’ to shoot intruder | masslive.com

SPRINGFIELD — A prosecutor on Thursday in Hampden Superior Court said Springfield resident Sean McCarthy was “absolutely within his rights as a homeowner” when he shot and injured Jordan Eady on Feb. 7, 2015.

McCarthy was not charged with any crime, as police said the shooting was justified. McCarthy is a licensed gun owner.

One of the would-be home-invaders was shot in the arm and the torso. Both miscreants are now on trial.

Family fights can be the worst. Police: Dighton homeowner shoots man trying to break in

Her estranged brother crashed his car into their cars and then tried to enter the home.

While officers were en route, the caller stayed on the phone with police and told dispatch Whitmore used a rock to break through a glass sliding door and was entering the home, police say.

The caller told police her husband shot Whitmore in the abdomen when he tried entering the home, officials say.

The cops found the brother hiding in a backyard pool and took him to a local hospital. Charges will include felony home invasion and assault with a deadly weapon.

The reporter seems surprised that no charges have been brought against the homeowner, but even in the deep blue of Massachusetts, self-defense is a human-right.
