Don’t Bring a Baseball Bat or a Knife to a Gunfight

Things won’t turn out well for you. Homeowner shoots suspected intruders in Los Lunas.

Benevides was allegedly holding a knife and Torres was holding an orange baseball bat, according to documents.

Police said the homeowner reached for a gun near the front door and shot both of them.

They ran, but made it less than 100 yards before collapsing. Cops took them to the hospital. One guy was moved to the jail, the other remains in hospital. They both face several charges, including “attempts to commit a felony.”

This Would Be Funny If It Didn’t Highlight the Sad State of American Education

Or maybe it is only education in our nation’s capital. (But I doubt it.) This is what happens when you stop teaching facts, and only teach about feelings in the schools. Couple forced to prove that New Mexico is a state while applying for marriage license.

“You know you are from flyover country when you are applying for a marriage license, give them your New Mexico driver’s license, and they come back and say: ‘My supervisor says we cannot accept international driver’s licenses. Do you have a New Mexico passport?'” Clarkson posted on Facebook recently.

The Clueless Clerk got a hint when everyone in line behind the couple was laughing at the ignorance.

If You Break Into Homes, You Will Eventually Find An Armed Homeowner

No one should be surprised at what happens next. Suspected burglar shot dead by Albuquerque homeowner.

Albuquerque Police say that burglar managed to get a garage door open from the outside, but the Foothills homeowner confronted the suspect and shot and killed him on site.

The incident is apparently in-line with a trend seen by officers, and anyone with a garage door with windows and a safety pull cord on the inside track should take note.

“We think the offender was able to use a tool to manipulate the top of the garage door to put a piece of wire in and grab the mechanism to open that garage door up,” APD Officer Simon Drobik said.

So he opened the garage door, only to find an armed homeowner. Police say this was just a break in, the homeowner didn’t know him.

Police are recommending that homeowners with garages either cut that pull cord, or tie it up so criminals cannot get to it so easily.

Use the Weapon That is Available

I’m not sure why I feel this is such a bizarre story. Homeowner shoots armed intruder with bow and arrow. On the one hand, it is a fairly straight forward story of self-defense. But the bow and arrow…

He kept stopping by a house and making threats.

He then said Tillerson later hopped a fence and shot at a dog. That’s when he pulled out his bow and arrow and shot Tillerson in the arm.

“How much pain are you in?” a detective is heard asking Tillerson during an interview, he replied, “Extreme. It f****** hurts man.”

More details of the story at the link above. (Tillerson was no stranger to law enforcement.)

So you teach a kid how to make stuff out of metal…

And you’re surprised when he makes something out of metal. Police: Student arrested for making hatchets in welding class

So is that a tool or a weapon? (I use one all winter long to break firewood down into kindling, along with my short-handled maul.)

The 15-year-old male student was caught by his teacher Friday making hatchets during a welding class

Charges are pending. Because it threatens the safe-space sensibilities of the establishment. It’s not like he was making guns.

He thought it was a good idea to break into a home. Police: Homeowner shot suspect during home burglary | KOB 4

Police say it appears the homeowner shot the suspect in the buttocks in an act of self defense and will not be charged. The suspect has been taken to the hospital for treatment and is being interviewed by detectives.

That is a bit of logical acrobatics I don’t intend to examine, but the bottom line is the homeowner has a right to defend himself and his family.
