Another Failure of the Victim-selection Process

Maybe he thought this particular homeowner wouldn’t offer resistance to the home-invasion. Police investigating after homeowner, a minister, shot intruder.

Lt. Chris Wells said officers were dispatched to the home at about 1:35 a.m. after the homeowner called 911.

According to Wells, the homeowner said he had shot a man who was trying to break into his home.

The homeowner is a Pentecostal minister.

[The homeowner’s son] said he spoke to his father this morning over the phone. He said his father is shaken up.

“It’s a bad deal,” Hollingsworth said.

Hollingsworth said he’s not aware of his father, a Pentecostal minister, ever firing a gun in self-defense before.

“You carry it hoping you don’t have to use it,” he said.

The homeowner (Hollingsworth Sr.) has not been arrested. Self-defense is a human-right.
