“They ignored the signs and verbal warnings”

If you think you know better than everyone else, you are mistaken. If you ignore warnings, bad things can happen. Sean Cole taken by croc at NT party.

I don’t know why this story bugs me so much. Just another group of obnoxious “kids” (OK – so they were in their 20s) that ignored the warnings about crocodiles – signs and staff both told of the danger. The result? An attack by a crocodile.

A five-metre crocodile was waiting for Mr Cole, in his 20s, an IT worker from Darwin. His friends watched helplessly from the bank as the crocodile grabbed him between its jaws and dragged him under the surface of the muddy river about 4pm on Saturday. He hasn’t been seen since.

This happened on the Mary River, Northern Territory, Australia: Home to the world’s largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles.

I feel bad for his family and his friends, but I find it odd that a bunch of adults would something this crazy. You thought crocodiles were imaginary? You thought you could deal with them? You thought you were invincible? You thought they would leave you alone? We will never know what he thought.
