Tennessee Is Also Not New Jersey

Homeowners can (and do) defend themselves, and the authorities are fine with that. Homeowner exchanges gunfire during attempted car theft.

Two guys try to steal a car at 4 AM. Homeowner is notified by his security system. Arms himself, and asks them what they think they are doing.

When the victim called out to ask what they were doing, a second suspect, identified as Timothy Keen, fired shots and he returned gunfire.

Bennie Cobb, a retired Shelby County Sheriff captain says the victim’s actions are protected under state law.

One guy was hit by the homeowner’s gunfire; he was picked up by police a short time later. The other guy ran, and cops are searching for him.
