Central Park Karen Is a Liberal

But then that was to be expected. Central-park-near address, rescue dog (the only approved kind!) are the requirements for limousine liberal, or maybe just liberal without the limo. From The IndependentIt looks like [Central Park Karen], the white woman in the viral Central Park video, is a liberal. That’s important.

She also had that smug sense of “I’m always right, even when I’m wrong” that I find radiates from liberals.

In response to the video, many on social media began to speculate and insist that [Karen] was a Trump supporter and a member of the “MAGA” movement.

However, campaign contribution information — with donations to Democrats such as Barack Obama, Pete Buttigieg, and John Kerry — leaked online earlier today appeared to suggest that [Karen] actually identifies as a liberal.

Yes liberals can be racist. Actually the liberals are the people usually painting with a broad brush, and discounting the actions, decisions and responsibilities of the individual. They are convinced that the only important feature you have is your membership in a victim-class, whether based on race, or sexual-orientation, or whatever. (Thinking for yourself is not allowed!) What is extreme is the way Central Park Karen uses her assumptions about how cops will respond to a white-woman “in danger” from an African American man, and yet she seems fine with the fact that this could have lethal consequences for a man who only asked her to obey the law.

I don’t really like that article linked at the top, but then I don’t like any of the articles that deal with her politics. That is because they all boil down to “We knew Republicans were racist, but we had no idea that Democrats could be too!” And actually in the comments there are a lot of people who don’t believe it. For my position, see my statement on individual responsibility above.

In another article, from Public Seminar, [Central Park Karen]: The Paradox of the Shameless White Liberal, by Musa al-Gharbi, the Paul F. Lazarsfeld Fellow in Sociology at Columbia University, we get the following…

In other words, [Karen]’s assumption that the cops would respond in a forceful manner against a black man without asking too many questions, strictly in virtue of his race as compared to hers — this is the kind of belief that liberals tend to hold about cops.

That’s what she expected, and she was apparently OK with it. In fact she seemed to be counting on it, or at least that Mr. Cooper would be afraid of that outcome.

Now Musa al-Gharbi is a Sociology Fellow at Columbia University (he has masters degrees in both Sociology and Philosophy) so there is a lot of liberal bias baked into his writing, but he does still give the liberals the business. How they are convinced they are so much better than everyone, and how their in-group virtue-signalling reinforces that belief, even when the reality isn’t so clear cut.

Owning a rescue dog, and donating money to the correct political candidates – Central Park Karen donated to Obama, Kerry, and Buttigieg (according the Independent’s article, though Open Secrets only show donations to the first two) – doesn’t ensure that you’re a good person. Only that you are virtue-signalling your membership in the Left.

You can look her up at Open Secrets, or you can find a link in the comments section on that article at the top, if you doubt that a card-carrying liberal could act this way. A lot of folks on the Left refuse to believe it. Everyone on the Left is good, and “We have the rescue-dogs to prove it!”

And, yes, I have edited out her name. She’s lost her dog, and her job over this; I see no reason to pile on. She will probably lose a whole lot more before people forget. The guy who was the target of Karen’s wrath has forgiven her or at least accepted her apology, so that’s good enough for me. Can I say it? I don’t have a dog in that particular fight.
